Great communities are measured by their ability to create and sustain cultural institutions that engage citizens and enchant visitors. This requires an investment of capital funds to create, expand and improve facilities, and of endowment funds to sustain the operations of those entities utilizing the facilities.
Whatcom County and the City of Bellingham partnered together to establish a Public Facilities District. The objective was to take advantage of this rare opportunity to realize a long-shared vision of enhancing the area’s quality of lie and economic health by creating a superlative and sustainable cultural center in downtown Bellingham. The construction of a new Art and Children’s Museum as well as continued improvements to the Mount Baker Theatre will solidify these two institutions are the cornerstones of our cultural district.
In contributing to the Campaign for the Arts, you sustain a long tradition of support for the arts and arts organizations, you invest in our downtown core and you help to create a vibrant center for culture within our community.
You may be inspired to give because the arts have changed your life in some way and you want to give back. You may give to celebrate an important milestone or rite of passage in the life of someone you love. You may give to continue your role as a community member passionate about the quality of life for those who live here, now and in the future. You may give an annual gift or through a matching program with your employer. You may want to include a bequest in your will or a deferred gift in your estate planning.
We know there are many worthwhile philanthropic opportunities for you to consider. We encourage you to consider donating to our campaign. Your donation is fully tax deductible. You may designate it for endowment funds, capital funds or unrestricted funds. And you may spread your gift over a period of up to four years.
